Resumes and Cover Letters: First impressions are everything
Students will discover employer expectations and let their experience speak for itself. Having the correct content in their resumes, cover letters, and personal statements is essential to professional documents.
Job Search Process: Develop a game plan
We provide a step-by-step guide to landing a great job. It is important for students to create a personal branding strategy. Finding a job after college takes a lot of time, energy, and commitment. Being proactive is key.
Experiential Learning: Rise above the competition
Internships and co-ops can lay the foundation to a successful career after college. Related experience provides insight as to whether students are on the right career path. Valuable work experience can kick start a career!
Networking: Is it really who you know?
Making connections that work can help students secure interviews for internships or jobs. Students who successfully step out of their comfort zone can get a foot in the door.
Interviewing Skills: Perform under pressure
Better to be over-dressed than under-dressed. Think conservative! Students should be able to answer questions, including: Why should I hire you? Why do you want to work for us?
Job Offers & Benefits: Know what you’re worth
The final phase of getting hired is the negotiation of salary and benefits. Students
should know how to recognize a good offer, with the willingness and ability to
negotiate.
Dining & Etiquette: It's not really about the meal
Know the difference between the salad and entree fork? Unsure what type of dish to order and how much it should cost? Brushing up on your dining and general etiquette knowledge could land you the job of your dreams.
